My first Dreamwidth post

Hello people of Dreamwidth and welcome to my little corner of this site!

I'm Aster, my pronouns are she/they and I am a queer, neurodivergent, chronically ill and disabled person. If you have a problem with any of this, or are any form of TERF or bigot, please kindly do us both a favour and fuck off.

If you're still here? Hi! Please pull up a comfy chair, there's always fresh tea, coffee, cake and biscuits ready for a friendly visitor

As I said, my name's Aster, I'm in my late 30s and I live in Leicestershire, England, with my partner of 20 years, the amazing and lovely Shay. We met in university and have been unseparable ever since, I legitimately can't imagine my life without them.

I generally describe myself as being 'whimsigothic' - a little gothic and a little witchy, but with a warm and whimsical twist. Think Tim Burton, Helena Bonham Carter, Stevie Nicks, 90s Sabrina or Charmed. That is my vibe.

I'm a bookworm, gamer, knitter, baker, witch, and all around geek, trying to find the time to do it all.
My favourite writer is Neil Gaiman, I love all things fantasy, witchy and my favourite genre is magical realism. Alice in Wonderland is my favourite book.
I love cozy gaming - Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, Story of Seasons. I'm a millennial, I think it's contractual at this point.
My favourite movies involve Tim Burton, Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp. I also fucking adore Studio Ghibli, The Craft and The Wizard Of Oz. Buffy, Charmed, Sabrina The Teenage Witch and The Addams Family are my TV shows. Good Omens IS MY JAM, Ineffable Husbands ARE LOVE, and I would have Michael Sheens babies!

Right now, I'm mostly bedridden, recovering after an operation and going through some pretty nasty treatment - yes it's probably what you think, and no I don't want to talk about it further than this statement. I also don't want 'feel better soon' platitudes because honestly they do not help me. Please respect this, thank you.

I'm also very very bored, and trying to find low-spoon hobbies that I can do that don't involve moving too much. You do not want to know how many books I have read so far in August but it's a quite frankly embarassing number. Watching TV and gaming has been making me feel nauseous but I think that's starting to settle, I can look at my laptop screen without things moving which is great.

And that's what brings me here. Bored, looking for something to do and people to talk with.
Help me Dreamwidth, you're my only hope!

Welcome again Aster! Love the whimsigothic description, I feel like I get it.

For hobbies, I'm wondering maybe a fun colouring book? I have one that is mostly funny, NSFW phrases surrounded by different shapes and I find it can be fun to just chill and colour in a few shapes and can pick it up and put it down whenever I feel like it.

I see you're already a knitter, so won't suggest that one :).
